Sunday afternoons

What is the best way to spend a Sunday afternoon?

I normally spend my Sunday afternoons lazing around, reading books (depending on my mood that day), with the radio on to a mellow station. Last Sunday, I spent it much the same. Drifting in and out of sleep, with the book on my lap. I do this because reading a book and listening to mellow music is my way of unwinding after a hectic week. Come Monday, things will go back to being crazy. A quiet, lazy Sunday is a fun time for me.

Workaholic

If there is a person I know who deserves to be in an Outer Banks vacation right now, it would be my friend, S. She works almost seven days a week. I often tell her to rest because it will take a toll on her body, the way she works herself to death. But she’s really a workaholic. You can only ask her to rest when she’s feeling down and out. Otherwise, you will find her heading to the office. Even on days that’s supposed to be her off.

Now what? No more money!

Is it really wise to celebrate your birthday in grand style with the state of the economy nowadays? I know someone who threw a grand birthday party celebration a few weeks ago. She really spent so much money in that party. I think she spent almost half the amount in her savings account. She was advised by those close to her to be more prudent, to think before pushing through with her plans. But she was adamantly refusing to heed everyone’s advice.

I saw her two or three days ago. She was in deep thought, not even bothering to look where she’s going to. I approached her and asked what’s wrong. She told me that she’s now in need of a certain amount of money for an emergency. She’s regretting the party she spent money on.

Regrets come in the end. Be wise in making decisions, especially when it involves money.

Know the law.

Know the law. This was what my Law professor instilled in our minds in college. That’s why when I enter into something new, say a new industry to work for, I make sure that I know at least the basic law governing it. Should I wait for a Seattle injury lawyer to tell me what my rights are? I should know at least the basic rights I have under the law. And you should, too. Remember, ignorance of the law doesn’t excuse no one.

Thinner

I saw a friend in Friendster and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw several photos of her. It’s like she drank vats of Decaslim and shrank 100 pounds thinner! I left her a message, asking her what exactly she did and she informed me that it was really a combination of diet, regular exercise and diet supplements. Her figure today is a product of hard work. I wish I can be as disciplined as her.

In the end…

I found this question from That’s My Answer: In the end, have you decided if you’d like to be cremated? And I figured I would like to share with you my answer. YES. I would like to be cremated when I die. Some people find it morbid to talk about one’s death and final arrangements. Personally, I find it practical. I mean, how would your love ones know what to do when you haven’t told them your preferences?

Going on a vacation

A friend called me up last weekend. She’s inviting me to go for Vegas vacations with her and some common friends. I would really love to go but with the state of the economy now, not to mention the state of my savings account, I don’t think it would be wise to go. I also want to go on a vacation but possibly somewhere nearer and cheaper. I just can’t spend that much right now.

Good travel agent

What I like with my current travel agent is that she knows how to save me some money. The last time we went out of the country, she was able to secure us all with cheap travel insurance. It really saved me a chunk of cash that I was able to use to buy some things abroad. I always recommend her to friends because she’s good at what she does.

Aired and cleaned

I am having our room cleaned and renovated a bit. I want it to be cooler than before. Our room was full of stuff so I will have those taken out of the room and cleaned. Cheap Blinds will be a priority when I go buy things for the room. I had a window widened. During high noon, I want blinds to minimize the glare of the sun. Hopefully, it will not cost me a lot of money to have the room aired and cleaned.

Attention diverted

I was supposed to check on performance parts but my attention got diverted. One of this country’s music icon passed away at high noon last weekend. It was a really sad day for all of us who admires the guy. He was the epitome of a nationalistic musician. Now that he’s already gone, people from the National Artists organization is thinking of awarding him a National Artist award. Too bad he didn’t live to see this happen.
