To make himself better

My friend’s husband will be going to a medical assistant training school. He was supposed to go to nursing school but it would take him years to finish it because of work. He is opting for medical assistant training instead.

I actually admire the guy. To make himself better, he enrolls in short courses and applies it in real life. He keeps saying that it will also make his family’s life so much easier. He also wants to be a good example to his sons in terms of education, hard work and perseverance. I say, if I am his teacher in life, I’d give him 100%!

Saturday scare

With what happened last Saturday, my friend told me that there’s an upsurge on the demand for term life quotes. I can understand why. There’s uncertainty everywhere right now. The sun is already shining but that’s nothing compared to the scare that happened last Saturday. It was one of the scariest storms we have ever seen. People have been injured, some died. It is the best example that we don’t know what the future might bring. And to be prepared for it, a life insurance is one of the must-haves now.

Never misses a sale!

My sister never misses a sale! A shopaholic like her won’t miss one for sure! No, she doesn’t buy all the time. Sometimes, she just loves to window shop, see what’s on sale. Sometimes, she checks early on and would buy the one she’s eyeing on the day of the sale. She’s like that ever since she started earning her own money.

My current choice: The Vampire Diaries

vampdiaries

The Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith.

I’ve read the books. I loved it! The story is not as page-turner as Twilight but not as cheesy.

Now, I’ve seen the pilot episode of the CW series and it’s not great but it’s okay. And enough to make the viewers come back for more episodes. The acting is way better than Twilight. Hands down. I love Rob Pattinson but I must admit, he’s nothing compared to Paul Wesley’s acting. Nina Dobrev is much, much better than Kristen Stewart’s acting. Of course, Ian Somerhalder is divine looking. Love him!

Can’t wait for episode 2!

Robert, Chris and Paul

I think I will be putting up my Robert Pattinson, Chris Pine and Paul Wesley posters to remind me that I need to lose weight! I’ve been struggling for years and years and it’s not letting up. This need to binge on food that I am craving for. But I must stop it now. I am already 31 and being overweight by this age could mean sickness in a year or two. Now, I don’t want that to happen. I need to check out the best diet pill in the market right now. And then couple it with the exercise that made me lose weight three years ago and a healthy diet.

And I have to look at the three men making me swoon at the moment.

Hehehe

Dina’s big!

I’ve been watching May Bukas Pa because the little girl at home loves Santino. The story is good and I must say that the little kid playing Santino is really someone you can see being the one Bro talks to. He is such a wonderful child actor. And someone who can evoke such sympathy from the televiewers. The other actors are also good.

What I find disturbing is how big Dina Bonnevie has gotten! Last night’s episode shown how big she already is! She needs a fat burner stat! She’s one of the beautiful and great actresses that we have locally. I guess since she’s not that active anymore like she used to, she let herself gain weight that much.

Dara’s made it!

Sandara Park is a Koren national who went to the Philippines for a spell, joined a reality teen search and became popular, a household name, in fact. But at the peak of her career, she opted to go back to South Korea to try her luck there. When she came back to Manila, she’s not as hot anymore. So she left again and went back to South Korea with her family.

After a spell, we just heard that she’s now called Dara and is a member of the popular K-pop group 2NE1! Great to know that she finally made it!

To show how popular she is in South Korea right now, here is a music video/tv commercial of a brand named “Cass”, a beer or soda drink, if I am not mistaken. And it features Sandara Park or Dara with the equally popular Lee Min-Ho of the famous tv series Boys Over Flowers

She’s huge in SKorea, don’t you think? I’m happy for her!

Pumpkins and a Halloween invitation

Invitations Halloween

Invitations Halloween

I almost forgot that Halloween is near. My aunt just reminded me about it when I saw a pumpkin leaflet when I visited her in the office. She buys a dozen pumpkins or so every Halloween for her kids and her employees’ kids. She also sends out Halloween Invitations to her employees as a formal invitation for them to join her and her family in celebrating Halloween. This is my aunt’s way of bonding with her employees and getting to know them outside the office setting.

While I was at her home, she asked me to check out the Halloween Invitation designs at http://www.holiday-invitations.com. This site offers Halloween Party Invitations that are specially designed for their customers. You can pick a design and adjustments to it are free of charge. You can even add a photo or a logo to the Invitations Halloween cards if you like. My aunt prefers a logo of the company on the invite. Holiday-Invitations offers same day printing and shipping which is good since she wants the invites rushed.

She wants me to help with the party preparations and she will pay me for it. Yes! Now, that’s the way to spend Halloween.

Music Monday: Send a little love my way

In my opinion, Pido is one of the underrated singers in the Philippines. He’s a really good singer who just happens to be not as good-looking as the other singers in his time. This is his cover of the Stephen Bishop song Send a little love my way. Enjoy!

Happy Monday!

I don’t know if ABS-CBN is thinking clearly when they conceptualized a series based on the movie Katorse. The movie was a Dina Bonnevie-starrer about a 14-year-old getting pregnant and regretting it but emerging as triumphant in the end. Sure, the movie has a positive message in the end. The Katorse lead emerged as a stronger person after her ordeal. But to actually do a series based on it???

Katorse airs on ABS-CBN, right before TV Patrol. It’s practically on primetime, a period in the day when most kids are watching tv. A time when teens and other adults are waiting for the news program to start. Can you imagine how many underage people are able to watch the series? Plus, the teaser is really a teaser! It will tease your senses about this 14-year-old barrio lass who wears clothes that show her cleavage and exposes most of her sensual nature. A barrio lass who’s supposed to be timid and shy as most barrio lasses are but not this one. She’s a flirt, who wants to do the deed, and does it, with the barrio rich kid. She got pregnant in the process.

You know what I think? Tweens and teens are watching this series. Curious about sex, they will really follow this one. Some kids the same age as the character might be in the same predicament, aching to do the deed with the apple of their eyes. I can assure you, teen pregnancy will rise in the duration of this series. And many pedophiles are watching this series, fantasizing about the flirt barrio lass!

ABS-CBN should be more responsible with what they’re airing. It’s not all about money! They have a social responsibility, too. And egging teens to do the deed with the one they “love” and getting pregnant in the process is a big mistake! They should be ashamed of themselves!

Urban Zone

My sister and I love watching the Urban Zone. It is a lifestyle/magazine show in ABS-CBN that features different houses. This is the show where I saw the Moen faucet that I like. I also saw the salon that I want for our home and the dining table that I have in mind. If and when I get my own home, it will surely be a collection of the designs I saw on tv.

Birthday gift for the little girl

magic-castle-bounce-house-2

Our little girl is choosing from the different bounce houses that she saw online. Oh yes, our little girl knows how to surf the net! We were asking her what gift she wants for her coming birthday and she told us that she wants a bounce house. She’s given us so much happiness since she was born and the thing she wants is just a little thing compared to that happiness.

In short, we’re giving her what she wants! Hehehe

A sad story

It is always sad when you hear a story about a hardworking man being duped by his employer. Someone I know is fighting for his rights with the help of Tennessee injury lawyers. It’s still a long way to go and because of it, he is sidelined right now. He can’t work until the suit is settled. I am hoping that things will work out fine for him. And that he will be given justice for what happened to him and his family.
