Local mechanic

Rico is a local mechanic. He started tinkering with his bike and is now into sports cars. You wouldn’t believe the story of this man. He came from a poor family so he did odd jobs when he was younger for school allowance. He realized he’s good with bikes so he took in jobs repairing or enhancing bikes. He tried tinkering with a friend’s broken car and he was able to not only change the spoilers but also fix the clutch. So he taught himself more and went on to becoming one of the top mechanics in our area.

He is now the proud owner of two auto shops and a car repair shop. Who would’ve thought, right?

Completing my Christmas list

I am still completing my Christmas list. In fact, I just went to the mall today to do some more shopping. And it’s still not enough. I have yet to buy gifts for my siblings and my dad. I have yet to buy Padron cigars for one of my uncles. I have yet to order the custom-made rugs for my aunt’s bedroom. I still have a lot in my list.

Hopefully, I can finish all of it this weekend. Christmas is just 2 weeks away. I don’t want to find myself rushing at the last possible minute.

Green with envy

I am green with envy! My friends will all go to Miami for the holidays. They intend to enjoy themselves under the sun. In fact, they’re already checking out miami hotels where they can stay. On the other hand, I will be staying put because it’s end of the year and there’s books to close and financial statements to prepare. I can’t take a break until end of March because of the annual financial report I have to put together.

Such is the life of an accountant like me.

Crazy!

Imagine yourself stuck in a house without the things you need to function properly. No sink, no stove, no shower, no food… I am sure you’d go crazy! I almost did!

We went to this house in the province that was sparsely filled with the important stuff. The crazy thing was, we were prepared to live like hermits for the weekend. But not without the basics. No shower or sink. You literally would have to wash yourself directly outside, on the soil underneath your feet. No stove so we had to gather woods to make a camp fire of sorts. AND… no food! It was not written in the leaflet that there’s no food!

We missed the hotel room we stayed at before going to that house. The suite has Kohler sinks, cool shower stalls, and lots of food! Crazy!

A breather

Stress will kill my friend if he does not take a breather. I told him that I checked myrtle beach vacation rentals and that he should go. By himself. He should not bring anybody with him. And he should buy a prepaid cellphone without the numbers of anybody from the office. Just use it in case of an emergency. But other than that, he should come only with himself.

He needs some time alone. He needs to make sure that he gets enough sleep, sun and rest. I told him that he should also go have fun. And STOP worrying about work! Otherwise, he just might keel over from too much stress in the office.

I do hope he pushes through with the plan.

Jewelry collection

Contemporary Jewelry. My aunt loves it! In fact, she has a collection of jewelries that she’s been getting from a friend. Over the years, every payday, she would go to her friend who has a jewelry shop and she would buy one piece.

For myself, I love the fancy ones. I am not much into accessories but the few I have I make use regularly. I am fine with what I have. Maybe, when I am older and I don’t have that much expenses anymore, I just might start my very own jewelry collection.

Person on standby to help

Me and my friend always shop on online stores that has live chat in it. We bookmark those sites and frequent it. The reason why we love those sites is because there is always a person on standby to help shoppers like us should we encounter any problem or has a question to ask.

I do believe online stores should have this kind of feature in their sites. It is good customer service to have someone to help shoppers anytime of the day.

Reward system

Cousin Ken is asking an XBox from his dad as a Christmas gift. My cousins don’t get toys unless it’s their birthday, or they got good grades, or it’s Christmas. So when there’s an occasion, they really make it a point to ask for the very toy they like.

I salute parents who are able to instill in their kids’ minds early on the reward system. I know not all parents are for this kind of upbringing for their kids but personally, I do like the idea that kids should earn their toys. Maybe to let them know early on that it pays to work hard for something you like.
