Gift for men

Why is it so hard to think of a unique gift for men? Perfume? Shirt? Sports-related item? I got John mens ties instead. He can use it for work. I am a very practical person. I give gifts that a person can use for work. Anyway, we do spend most of our time working 5 or 6 days a week. So I just know that whatever item I give a person, as long as it can be used for work, will be much appreciated.

John liked the ties I got for him.

Hanging out at the mall

There were so many people at the mall last Friday night. There was a midnight sale going on and because of it, there was a traffic jam as well. I think every one went to the mall that night. Probably to take advantage not only of the sale but also to literally chill out at the mall. It is so darn hot in the city this whole summer. Doubly hot, I must say. Even in ordinary days, people really hang out at the mall for the free cool weather inside.

My family and I do that, too!

Distracting scars

It is distracting. That’s what my friend said when I asked her why she’s planning to undergo a procedure to remove acne scars on her face and neck. I actually can understand her desire for a clear skin because she works as a receptionist for a well-known local hotel. She faces guests and it is torture for her when some of the guests would stare at her acne scars. There are days when she can’t cover it with make-up. But there are good days when the make-up is enough.

But now, she is adamant to get rid of the acne scars once and for all. I can’t wait to see her ‘new’ face!

Inspired!

There are diet pills that work. I can say that now. Someone I know lost a lot of weight from a combination of diet pills and lots of exercise. She also measures her meals so that’s another factor. But that person told me that she feels the pills have done it for her. I do think it might have done the trick.

I told a cousin about it. She also knows that person I know. And she is totally inspired by the person’s transformation that she is planning on conducting a diet regimen of her own! I wish I can say the same for me.

Cute twitpic!

When Paramore went to Manila for a one-night concert last March 2010, Hayley Williams tweeted this picture of hers with the following caption…

Paramore

i just got "lei-d" in manila?

Cute!

I really like Hayley and the Paramore. It was really too bad that I didn’t have enough funds with me last March to watch their concert. I would have been there if it wasn’t for some special occasions that I needed to attend to that month.

:(

Great edge

There is a cosmetology school in Texas that my friend is telling me about. The school is called Regency and it is one of the fastest growing beauty school in the US! The school gives a great edge to their students by giving them the opportunity to practice directly what they learned. It is like doing an on-the-job training while studying the theories of beauty. Plus, the school has a great network of placement relationships in salons, cruise ships and runways. You just know that with the hands-on knowledge you have plus the network Regency has, you are assured of a place in the field of beauty once you are through with school.

What luck

Jackie-and-Gilbert-Cisneros

The lucky couple Jackie and Gilbert Cisneros have won the California’s Mega Million lottery $266 million pot money! Yes, they are that lucky! Jackie is a television news employee at KNBC. When she was asked what she will do after winning that much money, she said that she will go back to work. Very practical lady!

If I am the lucky winner, I would plan every thing accordingly and I would probably not go back to work anymore. I will continue living simply but I will make sure that my money will be earning me some tidy profit so I can live off it and not have to work anymore.

Crazy challenge!

I just read again how a popular boxer would give away thousands of US dollars on a whim. He conducts a Biggest Loser challenge whenever he has a fight. The challengers are his trainers, hangers-on, and groupies. Every one can join!

Just imagine, on his last fight, the winner went home richer by $23,000! Yes, the pocket money was that huge!

Under the rules, participants were given 20 days to shed off 15 percent of their body weight with no use of any weight-reducing drugs. Those who make it gets $3,000 each and the “biggest loser” comes home with an extra $20,000.

Crazy!

If I had that much money, I would start investing it for my kids’ future. And mine when the effects of being boxed start showing.

Growing bonsai

My grandma, my dad’s mom, is celebrating her birthday a couple of weeks from now. Since she’s been ranting about being bored a lot lately, I thought I’d give her a hobby she might find interesting. Growing bonsai trees! She has a green thumb so I know it’ll be easy for her to grow one. It will also take her mind away from her worries. I just know she will enjoy her bonsai.

And I might give my dad one to grow, too. He got it from my grandma most likely but my dad can grow plants and trees. He is really good with that.

A done deal

Our little girl is already planning about her Disney vacations next year. We were just talking about the possibility of spending the holidays there but with her, it’s already a done deal! You can’t help but be amazed by the little girl’s positive thinking. Hahaha!

I wish I am as positive about it. It is just a plan but more on the 60% chance of it happening. But there are still priorities to take care of and things can change between now and next year.

After eight years…

Ally, who waited eight years since she got married before getting pregnant, is out on a shopping spree for her soon-to-born baby. She just bought a Baby jogger city select, a car seat for the baby, dozens of toys, baby clothes, and so much more! You can tell how thrilled she is about the arrival of her baby.

I just wish her husband feels the same way.

Dear woman

I run into an old co-worker about two weeks ago. She told me the sad news that someone from a company we both worked for now has asbestos cancer mesothelioma. You know, that kind of cancer every one is talking about these days. We were both teary-eyed while talking about it. The person suffering from it was a dear old woman who supported us employees more than the owners of the company.

I pray that a cure will be given to her and that she gets healed from it.

Help in benefits

Allsup is the company my friend’s mom is looking for. She has been disabled for a year now and she wants to claim her social security disability benefits. Unfortunately, it’s taking her so long to process it.

Allsup can help people like my friend’s mom. Disabled and needing the disability benefit to tide them over. Allsup has been the leader in the business, with a 98% success rate to boot. So if you know someone needing help with their social security disability processing, just tell them Allsup can help.

Spreading it

I swear those acne cleansers should be distributed for free in a local high school nearby. I’ve seen teenage kids come and go in that school and I swear, they are all with acne! I don’t know if they are spreading that in there or what.

I have a guy friend who still has acne even married with two kids already. Some people were able to shed off the skin blemishes but not him. When I went to visit him and his wife, I saw that his wife has acne now, too! Maybe you acquire it from someone you’re always with and sharing things with. I don’t know. But one thing is for sure, there is a cure to acne and all those affected by it should do is just to seek it.

Pajama party

Fiona and her girl friends had a pajama party last weekend. It was a blast! They had so much fun discussing boys, fashion, and the latest in weight loss, supplements like clinicallix, the latest diet fad and so much more. They pigged out on chocolates, hotdogs, and other junk food. It was a night meant for not thinking of anything else but fun!

It was a long time since I had that much fun with my girl friends. I hope I can spend some time with them again. Much like what Fiona and her girl friends did.
