Now, let me say something positive about local movies… I’ll focus on the feel-good ones.
If you want an escape from the daily harshness of life, you can go see a Tagalog romantic-comedy. I’d recommend Sarah Geronimo‘s movies. The two with John Lloyd Cruz and the other one with Gerald Anderson. Those three movies were done to make the moviegoer feel good and experience an hour and a half of laughter and light drama. There’s also Regine Velasquez‘s two movies with Aga Mulach. I don’t like her movie with Robin Padilla or the other ones that she did. The ones with Aga are her best. I also watched a movie of the late Rico Yan with his then girlfriend Claudine Baretto. It’s also a feel-good movie, the one where Claudine wore a pink wedding gown. I forgot the title of that one but a co-worker recommended it to me and I enjoyed watching it.
You can also go see the real comedies like the ones of Vhong Navarro, Ai Ai delas Alas (specifically her Tanging Ina series), and the like. I would highly recommend Here Comes The Bride starring Angelica Panganiban. I had doubts before I went to see it with my two best friends. But I had a hard time keeping myself seated the whole time I was watching the movie. I wanted to roll on the floor laughing. Literally!
The ones where sex isn’t the main selling point of the movie are the best. Because there are so many stupid moviegoers who imbibe what they see in a movie. I am talking about the perverts!
