Who is that again?!?

My sisters and I are laughing whenever we see advertisements of music artists who are coming to Manila for a concert. Most of the music artists are has-beens! I am sorry but that’s the most appropriate description you can give all the artists you have performed and will perform in the months to come. Vertical Horizon, Cranberries, Hanson, and many others. Even Evanescence, no matter how much I like them, is admittedly nobody in the US anymore.

I don’t know why the concert producers bother to bring them here. It’s not like there’s a clamor for them. I would have said YES to that back-to-back Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block concert. Now that one would surely be a hit! But Hanson? I mean what were their songs that became hit again? The only song I could remember from them was Mmmbop. And did I spell it right? :p

Again and again

This song We Found Love by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris is being played again and again by yours truly.

I just love the song! I also love the acoustic cover by Boyce Avenue. That Alejandro Manzano and his equally talented brother Daniel are good with their covers. And both are good looking!

Try listening to any of their cover songs and you will get hooked!

;)

Adele’s new look

Adele-Grammys

Yes, that’s Adele! She attended the Grammy Awards and if you don’t notice it yet, the lovely woman with the amazing voice lost a lot of weight! She looks really good but I kinda like her better back when she’s a bit fuller.

Whatever. The important thing is that her amazing voice will not change!

;)

Jason Mraz is coming to Manila!!! :)

OMG!

Jason Mraz is coming for a concert at the end of this month! He will be coming with Toca Rivera and will perform live at the Big Dome!

I wish I have enough money to shell out for a VIP ticket! I would love to see him perform live!

Argh! So frustrating to hear of artists you love performing in your country and you don’t have enough to shell out for a ticket…

Sweet Pink preggy photo!

Pink

If you don’t know it yet, I like Pink a lot! I follow her both on Twitter and Facebook. I saw the photo above via her Twitpic account. It was a photo of her belly that she posted on February 4 of this year.

She is pregnant with her first child. Don’t you just think she looks absolutely fabulous in the photo above?

Lady Gaga and the white Steinway piano

Lady Gaga Beatles

The photo above was tweeted by Sean Lennon, son of the late legendary Beatles member John Lennon. That’s Lady Gaga, playing on the famous white Steinway piano identified with the Beatles. The piano was a gift of John to Sean’s mother Yoko Ono. Apparently, fans of the Beatles were up in arms over the photo above.

I guess they didn’t want to see anyone playing on the piano?!?

Hugh’s blues

Hugh Laurie

Hugh Laurie, House himself, is going to record a blues album! Who knew he’s musically inclined in real life?

He is self-taught. According to a news report, Hugh will be recording the album with guest musicians from New Orleans. Joe Henry from Warner Music will be producing the album.

I am sure it will be a big hit in France where Hugh is more popular than George Clooney or Brad Pitt. I will buy this album as soon as it hit stores. I am a fan of Hugh, too!

Achy Breaky Heart bug

BillyRay-MileyCyrus

So according to teen sensation Miley Cyrus, it was her father Billy Ray‘s performance of his Achy Breaky Heart that did it for her. She was bitten by the performance bug and the rest, as they say, is history.

We know she became Hannah Montana and made four albums that sold by the millions. She is now ranked number 13 on Forbes’ list of the world’s most powerful celebs. Imagine that!

Hey dad!

Daisy Lowe

Daisy Lowe is an English fashion model who learned only in 2004 that her dad is Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale. Yes, that gorgeous, sexy hubby of Gwen Stefani. Daisy has modeled for fashion houses including Chanel and Burberry.

Coco Sumner

On the other hand, I didn’t know Sting has a grown-up child already. Her name is Coco Sumner who was an actress before she tried her hand on music like her pop. She has a British band of her own, I Blame Coco, and will soon be releasing a full album called The Constant.

The underrated Boyce Avenue

Boyce Avenue

Boyce Avenue is a band that gained popularity via Youtube. The band did covers of popular hits like songs of Rihanna, Chris Brown, Snow Patrol, Coldplay and many others. Almost all videos of their covers have millions of hits from all over the world! They are that good!

Boys of Boyce Avenue

The band is composed of brothers Alejandro (on vocals), Fabian (guitars) and Daniel (percussion) Manzano. All three brothers are good-looking and have good voices. The band’s name came from the combination of two streets the guys lived in when they were kids. They are from Sarasota, Florida.

Greatest Hits Boyce Avenue

They performed here in the Philippines, in select SM malls, and they sold so many of their Greatest Hits album. And they were better in person more than they were in their Youtube videos! They came back last year for a concert but they were just front act and well, played for 30 minutes.

I wish they’d come back here once more and this time around, for their very own concert. This band is underrated, I tell you. They deserve more than what they’re getting right now.

Cute twitpic!

When Paramore went to Manila for a one-night concert last March 2010, Hayley Williams tweeted this picture of hers with the following caption…

Paramore

i just got "lei-d" in manila?

Cute!

I really like Hayley and the Paramore. It was really too bad that I didn’t have enough funds with me last March to watch their concert. I would have been there if it wasn’t for some special occasions that I needed to attend to that month.

John Mayer Live in Manila postponed!

John Mayer Live in Manila

The much-anticipated concert John Mayer Live in Manila is postponed. It was supposed to be this coming May 16th but due to the national elections that will be held on the 10th, the concert was rescheduled to October 1st.

I got the details from John Mayer’s web site itself. I read it first in a daily broadsheet but I want a confirmation from John’s site. I think they cited the fear that there might be chaos during the election period so to be safe, they opted to hold the concert at a later date.

Joe Jonas: trying to prove something?

JoeJonas

One of my favorites among the younger set of celebrities of this generation is Joe Jonas. The guy is good-looking! Plus, I got no choice but to like him because our little girl likes him, too. You know, seeing him in the Disney Channel all the time…

Anyway, lately, I don’t know if you’ve noticed his love for the big dark glasses. I don’t really know if he needs it but I do think that he is trying to be cool like Jay-Z. I believe the latter. And then this get-up with the retro bike. The little man wants to prove something and he’s the only one who knows what it is.

Britney

britney_spears

I have a lot of guilty pleasures. One of them is Britney Spears. I love her upbeat songs! Toxic, Womanizer, and those teeny-bopper ones. Womanizer is my ultimate fave song of hers. It really makes me want to get up and dance. Seriously!

I just watched her in a replay of the Teen Choice Awards and she was presented the Ultimate Choice award. She deserves it! After all, it’s based on her achievements as an artist and not on her messy personal life.

The Climb

I have something to confess to you… I am addicted to that song The Climb by Miley Cyrus! I can’t get it out of my head. I tried listening to it all day long to cleanse it out of my system but I think it only got into me deeper and deeper! I just love the lyrics. Somehow, for me, it becomes a song about my faith. That is probably why I can’t shake it off.

I just love the part that says…

There’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose

Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb.

It’s like a shot at life. What matters is how we live our lives. A very beautiful song and for me, one of the best songs there is.
