What luck

Jackie-and-Gilbert-Cisneros

The lucky couple Jackie and Gilbert Cisneros have won the California’s Mega Million lottery $266 million pot money! Yes, they are that lucky! Jackie is a television news employee at KNBC. When she was asked what she will do after winning that much money, she said that she will go back to work. Very practical lady!

If I am the lucky winner, I would plan every thing accordingly and I would probably not go back to work anymore. I will continue living simply but I will make sure that my money will be earning me some tidy profit so I can live off it and not have to work anymore.

Made for each other

made-of-honor

I really love the movie Made of Honor. Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan look so good together in that movie that it really made me fall in love with the story. If you haven’t seen it, the story is about a man and a woman who are best friends. The man is a player, dates every woman he fancies. The woman is always there for the man, waiting for him to take notice, until she goes abroad and fell in love with another man. The man finally realizes how important his best friend is to him so he does everything to win her back.

And he did!

It’s the typical dream of a woman to marry her best friend. Who doesn’t want that? It makes you want to be in that situation wherein two wonderful and good-looking men are fighting over you. I want that! Admit it, you also do.

And if my best friend looks like Patrick Dempsey, hey, I will also forget that he’s a chronic womanizer if he asks to marry me. I will surely say “I do”. Hehehe

Please wait to be seated

TMA asks… How long will you wait for a table at a restaurant? Under 15 minutes? Not at all?

Seated

I guess it depends. If I am already hungry, even a 15-minute wait would seem like forever to me. So I would rather go to another restaurant that can accommodate me right away. If I am not hungry, I can wait even for 30 minutes. If I really like the restaurant and I know they are reasonable when it comes to accommodating their patrons, then I can wait that long.

To be near water

I’ve been browsing sites hoping to find a really great and affordable resort. I am fixated with swimming and being near water these past several weeks. I wish I can up and go whenever I feel like it but I can’t just do that. For one, I have so many pending work to do. And I also don’t have the budget to do something like that on a whim. It will have to be planned and scheduled so as not to affect my routine.

I found one through my friend. A resort near the metro but has the lavish feel of being in a first-class resort! The rates are a bit steep but considering the beauty of the place, I think the price is worth it. I might go there with some friends this April. I hope by then I have enough saved so I can relax even for a day or two.

Braggart

Funny how this person would keep patting her back even for the simplest things that she does. Sometimes it annoys the hell out of me. There are occasions and situations in which you can praise yourself, subtly or otherwise. I know she knows that because she’s an intelligent person. But it is a habit of hers that I know she can’t help but give in to. She’s been doing this for years!

It’s just so annoying to see her tell the world that she’s a really good mom or that she’s an intelligent person who knows so many things. Or that she is well-disciplined. And so on.

Grrrr

Fireballs and festivities

fireballs

I love festivals! I think I am one of those people who are weird in a way that I love the noise associated with festivities. It just pumps up everybody’s adrenaline and pushes away all the worries of the present. It can provide an escape that we all need from time to time to stay sane.

I love fireballs. I love bright lights! It just pushes away the darkness of life…

Stay positive, stay hopeful

I have come across several articles with a cynic tone about being positive in this time of crisis. Maybe it is just easy for me to tell everyone to be positive because, yes, I can feel the financial crisis like everyone else. But I guess I am lucky enough to have siblings who help me out. For some people out there who rely on themselves only, it is hard to maintain a positive outlook in life or a positive state of being. Lost job, depleted savings, no sign of a new job in the horizon.

But you know, we can try to stay positive and be hopeful. Because we attract positive energy that way. And do you remember what the elders say? When you are down, deep down there, there’s no way to go but up. It may take a while. It may have to come in a form of a sacrifice. But it will come. A threadbare thing to hold on to, positive thoughts. We just have to always remember that there is a time for everything and a higher purpose to what’s happening in our lives.

Abuse

In TV Patrol World, a Filipina filed charges against her American live-in partner because he beat her up. According to the security personnel of the building where they live in, the couple was fighting about their savings. They heard the American beating the Filipina, slamming her against the wall and slapping her on the chest! The security guards sought the help of the police and the American was brought to the police station. The Filipina then said that she was being beaten by her boyfriend due to financial problems between the two.

The police filed charges against the American. Unfortunately, after an hour or two, the Filipina withdrew the charges and the lovers went out of the police station hand in hand. Tsk tsk tsk

YouTube babies

YouTube is now the vehicle to launch one’s singing career. I am thinking of Charice Pempengco and Arnel Pineda. Imagine, Charice was seen by Ellen de Generes on YouTube, a clip of her in a South Korean singing competition. Ellen was impressed and asked her to guest on her show. Look at where Charice is right now! An international singing sensation being handled by David Foster and the queen of talk, Oprah, herself. Wow!

And Arnel Pineda? The international band, Journey, discovered him through YouTube as well. He was asked to become the band’s lead vocals and well, they just finished a US tour and have guested in Ellen, too!

Want to be discovered as well? Post a video in YouTube now!

Let go..

reservoir

He’s so stuffy. Reserved at most times. He rarely smiles, would usually bestow it only on people close to him. But when he finally accepted his life, he suddenly felt free. No more burden on his shoulder. He felt more at peace with the world.

He’s finally ready to let go

Now what? No more money!

Is it really wise to celebrate your birthday in grand style with the state of the economy nowadays? I know someone who threw a grand birthday party celebration a few weeks ago. She really spent so much money in that party. I think she spent almost half the amount in her savings account. She was advised by those close to her to be more prudent, to think before pushing through with her plans. But she was adamantly refusing to heed everyone’s advice.

I saw her two or three days ago. She was in deep thought, not even bothering to look where she’s going to. I approached her and asked what’s wrong. She told me that she’s now in need of a certain amount of money for an emergency. She’s regretting the party she spent money on.

Regrets come in the end. Be wise in making decisions, especially when it involves money.

In the end…

I found this question from That’s My Answer: In the end, have you decided if you’d like to be cremated? And I figured I would like to share with you my answer. YES. I would like to be cremated when I die. Some people find it morbid to talk about one’s death and final arrangements. Personally, I find it practical. I mean, how would your love ones know what to do when you haven’t told them your preferences?

Fare cut: 7pesos jeepney fare

pricecut

Starting today, February 23, 2009, jeepney fare will be cut back to 7 pesos (7Php) from the previous 7 pesos and 50 cents (7.50Php). This is good news to all the commuters! Remember that even coins saved could amount to a significant amount in the long run. In this time when we need every little thing that can help us survive, a fare cut is big deal to everyone.

Plus, there will be oil price rollbacks that will coincide to this fare cut. Yey to all!

Happy Monday everyone!

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday

Most people hate Mondays because it represents the start of another week of grueling work and the start of rushing out home. But we can take this the positive way. We can look at Mondays as the start of a new week full of hope. It can also signal the end of the horrible past week.

Happy Monday everyone!

Thank God for tricycles!

tricycle

There are various modes of transportation here in the Philippines. One of those is the tricycle. It is a motorbike with a sidecar attached to its side. People here in the Philippines make use of this to travel between streets/blocks. Very convenient especially if you are carrying something heavy or the sun is angrily beating down your skin. Like right now. Or it is raining hard.

I make use of this mode of transportation all the time – going to church, going to taxi stops or going to another street blocks away from where I live. Most students also make use of tricycles in going to and from schools.
