Finally wed!

Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid have finally walked down the aisle and got wed today.

It was reportedly the Wedding of the Decade! Regine wore a red gown made by Monique Lhuillier. A first time that a bride wore a red wedding gown, according to the news report I read. Regine and Ogie have been together for quite sometime now. I remember the scandal that broke out about Regine snatching Ogie away from Michelle Van Eimeren, Ogie’s wife then. As it turned out, Michelle was actually the one pushing the two of them together! Imagine that.

And after a long wait, with Michelle and Ogie’s annulment case that took so long, Regine and Ogie finally tied the knot.

Congrats to the happy couple!

Sharon’s tampo

The ‘tampuhan’ between Aga Muhlach and Sharon Cuneta is one of the silliest issues blown out of proportion in local showbiz! I swear it was silly, pathetic and totally a non-issue! It is sooo irritating with Sharon even acting like a teenager with a ‘tampo’ on her crush! Eeew!

So Sharon has this tampo with Aga for continually declining to start the movie they were supposed to be doing by now. Sharon felt slighted because Aga made a movie with Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis, and is about to start a movie with Lea Salonga. She feels that Aga keeps on rejecting her because of her weight issues. Well, she is overweight and when she stands beside Aga, they look like aunt and nephew. Tiyahin ang dating! Can you blame Aga for rejecting her?!?

Sharon should stop talking about it. She comes off as a silly old woman who is starting to get insecure with the younger ones.

Local networks’ leading men, part 2

Okay, so this is a continuation of the entry I did earlier about a scrutiny of local networks’ leading men.

ABS-CBN has the following premier leading men: John Lloyd Cruz, Piolo Pascual, Derek Ramsay, Sam Milby, Gerald Anderson, Coco Martin, Jake Cuenca, Diether Ocampo, Vhong Navarro, Rayver Cruz, Enchong Dee, Matt Evans, Zanjoe Marudo, Rafael Rosell, and so many others I can’t remember just now as well as up and coming leading men that I don’t really know because I haven’t watched a show of them yet.

We all know how brilliant John Lloyd, Piolo, Gerald, Coco and Jake are in acting. I think I need not mention the teleseryes and movies John Lloyd and Piolo did. Their names alone signifies brilliant acting! And you can pair them with any woman and they’ll be able to carry it off, with or without chemistry. Gerald, Coco and Jake on the other hand are relatively new compared to John Lloyd and Piolo. But we’ve seen them in Tayong Dalawa and they were even given acting awards for it. Brilliant young actors! Really good at their craft.

Vhong is one of the best young comedians around. Sam can do both singing and acting. I just have a problem with his “brooding” acting. It just feels like he’s always brooding and carrying the world on his shoulders. Still relatively better than Kapuso leading men, even compared to Dingdong Dantes. I also have a problem with his never-ending American accent. Someone should tell him to take Tagalog lessons seriously so he can take on roles other than always being a rich guy or someone from abroad. Derek is the leading sexy guy around. He can say so many things just by looking at the camera. So darn good-looking, too!

The rest of the guys I mentioned are also good actors. I do think Enchong and Rafael are two of the not-so-newest guys around to be reckoned with. I don’t really like both guys but I recognize good acting when I see them.

So tell me, who has a better roster of leading men: ABS-CBN or GMA-7?

Local networks’ leading men

Truth be told, our family watches mostly ABS-CBN shows. For one, the network has a clearer signal in our area. GMA-7‘s signal has always been looking like that of the ’80s. Also, ABS-CBN shows are far more interesting than that of the competition. The network has more stars than any other local network combined.

Let’s take a closer look at the leading men for both networks…

GMA-7 has Dingdong Dantes, Dennis Trillo, Aljur Abrenica, Richard Gutierrez, TJ Trinidad, Mark Herras, Marvin Agustin and Mark Anthony Fernandez. Remind me if I missed out someone else. Dingdong, TJ, Marvin and Mark Anthony are all good actors. Good in what they do. They can legitimately act. On the other hand, Dennis, Aljur, Mark and Richard are better off in acting workshops. They need to learn to add more depth in their acting. Come on, I saw Dennis in a scene with Dingdong and my goodness! Dennis ate dust! And to think he’s one of the premier leading men of the network! Richard is, of course, without a doubt a really good-looking man. But let’s be honest here. He is lame in acting! Voice projection alone is terrible! He can act, yes, but not what we really expect from a network prince. And that Aljur guy! He acts like he’s only in a school play! Mark can act but please someone should tell him to let go of the addicted look and get some help with his speech! Let me just point out, by the way, that TJ, Marvin and Mark Anthony are from ABS-CBN who just went over the bakod for greener pasture.

Tuesday Vargas’s wedding

I am not a fan of Tuesday Vargas but I do like her acting in Here Comes The Bride. She can be really funny without trying to. I was reading PEP.ph when I saw the link to her wedding video. I watched it out of curiosity and boy, did I loved it!

Tuesday got married to Coy Placido of Session Road band. They’ve been together for years before they tied the knot at the Discovery Shores in Boracay. They created their own vows and Tuesday’s vow was so darn funny! Watch the video below…

Did you like it? The songs used were so apt for the video. I really like how they made their wedding entertaining for everyone. Imagine injecting humor into your wedding vow and making your guests laugh and cry at the same time! Weddings should be like this, don’t you think?

I was browsing PEP.ph when I saw the wedding photos of Ciara Sotto. She is now an Oconer. Her husband is said to be Jojo Oconer, an executive of TAPE, Inc. When I saw the photo of her husband, well, I just knew right away that he is way older than her. He looks mature already. That might be a plus considering according to Ciara’s mom, Helen Gamboa, she was the baby of the family.

Someone mature might be best for someone in her ’20s and still considered a baby by her family.

I admit it, I love reading gossip columns! Who doesn’t? My day isn’t complete without reading PEP.ph or the Philstar column of Ricky Lo. I usually read it in the early morning. What a gossip, I know!

So the raging topic among columnists right now is the Willie Revillame-Wowowee issue. I didn’t care about that issue until I read that Willie’s earning close to 25 million pesos a month! And he’s so ungrateful of the TV station who gives him that much? Wow! I would love to earn even 1/25 of that in a month! I wouldn’t be ungrateful, I swear.

I can’t imagine how some people can be discontented about their good fortune in life. God has given them so much and they were thumbing their noses on the instruments He used to give them that kind of blessings. In Willie’s case, he’s thumbing his nose on ABS-CBN.

He should be grateful to the station who gave him one chance too many.

I saw this from a tweet of Georgina herself. The two ladies are the exes of Richard. I am sure most guys out there are so envious of the lucky man. And a girl is gnashing her teeth somewhere from sheer jealousy! They just keep on denying it but entertainment reports said that Richard’s current girlfriend is GMA-7 artist Jewel Mische.

Why deny it? Probably to protect the public’s perception of Richard as a single man falling for whoever is his current love interest.

Dina’s big!

I’ve been watching May Bukas Pa because the little girl at home loves Santino. The story is good and I must say that the little kid playing Santino is really someone you can see being the one Bro talks to. He is such a wonderful child actor. And someone who can evoke such sympathy from the televiewers. The other actors are also good.

What I find disturbing is how big Dina Bonnevie has gotten! Last night’s episode shown how big she already is! She needs a fat burner stat! She’s one of the beautiful and great actresses that we have locally. I guess since she’s not that active anymore like she used to, she let herself gain weight that much.

Katorse and ABS-CBN’s social responsibility

I don’t know if ABS-CBN is thinking clearly when they conceptualized a series based on the movie Katorse. The movie was a Dina Bonnevie-starrer about a 14-year-old getting pregnant and regretting it but emerging as triumphant in the end. Sure, the movie has a positive message in the end. The Katorse lead emerged as a stronger person after her ordeal. But to actually do a series based on it???

Katorse airs on ABS-CBN, right before TV Patrol. It’s practically on primetime, a period in the day when most kids are watching tv. A time when teens and other adults are waiting for the news program to start. Can you imagine how many underage people are able to watch the series? Plus, the teaser is really a teaser! It will tease your senses about this 14-year-old barrio lass who wears clothes that show her cleavage and exposes most of her sensual nature. A barrio lass who’s supposed to be timid and shy as most barrio lasses are but not this one. She’s a flirt, who wants to do the deed, and does it, with the barrio rich kid. She got pregnant in the process.

You know what I think? Tweens and teens are watching this series. Curious about sex, they will really follow this one. Some kids the same age as the character might be in the same predicament, aching to do the deed with the apple of their eyes. I can assure you, teen pregnancy will rise in the duration of this series. And many pedophiles are watching this series, fantasizing about the flirt barrio lass!

ABS-CBN should be more responsible with what they’re airing. It’s not all about money! They have a social responsibility, too. And egging teens to do the deed with the one they “love” and getting pregnant in the process is a big mistake! They should be ashamed of themselves!

Johnny Delgado: Lymphoma not colon cancer

It was all over the news a couple of months ago, in 2008, that veteran actor, Johnny Delgado has colon cancer and was dying. It started as a blind item and was later reported in major entertainment news programs, tabloids and broadsheets.

According to the article in PEP.ph, he was told by the doctors that it was colon cancer and that his body had shut down. He had two weeks to live. He left everything to the Lord. And then the biopsy results done to him came out. It was not colon cancer! It turned out to be lymphoma, still a form of cancer but one that could be treated with chemo cycles. After a couple of chemo sessions, he is not doing fine and 85% of the cancer cells are already gone.

He said that whatever happens, he is leaving everything to Him and that miracles do happen.

I don’t know why here in the Philippines, lead stars of a movie have to talk about kissing scenes, love scenes, parts of their bodies just to sell a movie! There is a movie from Star Cinema to be shown within the week. Love Me Again starring Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin. Every time the two are interviewed on camera, they are asked about Piolo’s abs OR their hot love scene. That’s it!

The cinematography of the movie is really great, as far as I could tell from the trailer. The story might be good. The supporting cast, great. They can inject that in their interviews. But no! The local showbiz reporters are more interested in the cheesy love scene and Piolo’s uninteresting abs!

Such is the state of our local showbiz.

Too bad her first ever music album sucks!

Songs in aka Cassandra, KC’s first music album, are not even included in radio music charts. I don’t know why she was even given free rein on her first album. It was a bad move, if you ask me. She chose songs that are not what the masses are expecting from her. That Imposible song that they first released is irritating! And the Umbrella rendition… goodness! Who said it was ethereal? What is ethereal anyway?

Watch this video that I got from Blissful Weddings Philippines‘ web site. Nakakakilig sila! They look so good together. Cheska Garcia is the sister of Patrick Garcia, an actor here in the Philippines. Cheska is one of the hosts of fashion-magazine show Us Girls together with Iya Villania and Angel Aquino. Doug Kramer is a popular basketball player in the PBA. They’ve been together for close to 5 years, I believe, before they tied the knot in a Christian wedding at Blue Leaf, The Fort, Taguig City.

Ganda ng wedding down ni Cheska! And nakakatuwa when Doug shed tears on seeing Cheska walk down the aisle :)
