The Buzz

The Buzz is ABS-CBN‘s showbiz-oriented talk show. It airs on Sundays at 4:30 in the afternoon until 6 in the evening. Normally, if they go overtime, the show is cut off the air. But today, because it’s Kris Aquino‘s interview they aired (with the issue of her and James Yap‘s annulment being finalized) they didn’t cut off the show. Can you imagine TV Patrol airing almost an hour after it should?!? ABS-CBN should really impose the airing time on their shows. 24 Oras of GMA7 is almost done before their evening news went on the air! And all because of Kris Aquino!

And what’s with Charlene Gonzales and her matronly gowns?!? Does no one tell her that she always look off beside Boy Abunda and Toni Gonzaga?

Boy Abunda’s mother has dementia.

I just read in PEP.ph that Boy Abunda already gave up his talent management company Backroom, Inc. and will also consider giving up some of his TV shows to take care of his ailing mom. He admitted that his mom, known among showbiz folks as Nanay Lesing, is suffering from dementia. This is the reason why he is choosing to give up some of his work, to be with her mom in this time of need.

According to Boy Abunda, host of The Buzz in ABS-CBN among others, he is ready to lose everything to be with his mom. Boy is well-known for his love of his mom. The two even have a TV commercial of their own. He will be spending more time with her while he is still juggling TV work and pursuing a doctorate degree.

Charlene’s the odd one!

Charlene Gonzales

Has anybody ever told Charlene Gonzales that she looks so odd being in The Buzz? I mean she stands so tall among the four of them hosts – Boy Abunda, Toni Gonzaga, KC Concepcion and her. She looks more like a beauty queen than a talk show host. And she doesn’t look like a chismosa to me! I am sure she doesn’t look like that to you as well.

She is better suited in a lifestyle magazine show. A show where she can talk fancy and look the part. Really, she’s too sosyal to be a chismosa!

Feeling highly intellectual

I don’t like Boy Abunda. Sure, he’s more competent than the other local hosts. But when you watch him, you get this feeling that he feels like a highly intellectual person. He pronounces words like positive as PO-si-tiv. He frowns a lot to make you think he’s concentrating on what his interviewee is saying. He doesn’t look at the camera a lot to make you think like he is focused on the show.

Two Sundays ago, he interviewed the controversial road rage killer Jason Ivler‘s mother, Marlene Aguilar-Pollard in The Buzz. It was obvious that he favored the woman. He defended her in some instances, answering the questions he threw at the overacting woman. When Marlene shed crocodile tears, he would console her like a friend who’s being ganged up on national tv. At the end of the interview, he told the clearly demented woman that he was on her side, in not so many words.

If you’ve seen the interview, you’d clearly see that the comment made by Abunda boosted her confidence. And now he’s going to feed her ego some more in his feeling intellectual show, Bottomline (which he pronounces as Ba-tam-layn).

Hilarious!
